Ona VS The world. Chapter 1

Kids, don't do what I did. Don't check in with your ID card where the only valid travel document is your passport. Also when this question comes to your head, do not think "ah, whatever, it will be fine", but check and get it changed. Because when at the airport, one hour before take off you realize your mistake, it may cost you a flight and make you reschedule for at least half a day, excluding the worry of extra costs.

Surely, none of that happened to me, but by pure accident or just thanks to a not very detailed oriented airlines worker who should have checked this part, but didn't. It did, however, cost me a whole bucket of nerves and shaky hands, not to mention aging significantly while waiting to be rejected to board. It can happen - I checked! But maybe good thing their helpdesk did not answer the phone, otherwise who knows where I would have been right now. Maybe back in Copenhagen? Maybe that would not have been as bad.

Besides that, there is another thing you kids, should do. And it is book a shuttle or a taxi or anything to get you out of Kiev airport and to your destination, otherwise you will end up like me, in the rain, waiting for an overpriced taxi for over an hour, because everyone you talked to was "already booked" or did not want to take you for one reason or the other. I ended up back in my hostel around 3 a.m., woke up and scared the living hell out of 24/7 receptionist plus two very unhappy Ukrainians in my hostel room and of course had troubles sleeping because of reasons. You know how it is.

So after well deserved but not much received sleep I went to explore some of the city. I did nap a little in a park and sat there just thinking in another one, successfully wasting time and thinking that flip-flops are not the proper footwear despite my better judgement. But I did get a glimpse at the city and it is promising. I am hoping to explore a little more after I am a little less tired and more slept the day after tomorrow. That is if Chernobyl is not giving me too much radiation tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed, please.

Off topic

Here I am, in the casino at the end of the world, not even bidding, not playing, not doing anything, when you came in. Completely self confident you walk right to the roulette table, you sit next to me, look at me with the gorgeous smile and you place your highest bid on one number. You don't even look at the little ball jumping around in a twirling line of numbers on the roulette, you look at me and you are so sure you are going to cheat the house, you are going to win, that it makes me believe, it even makes the house believe. You take my hand and you walk me out of the casino, still without knowing for a fact, but so certain of your truth, that it stops to even matter.

Maybe you are the fire and not just another flame? Maybe you will have the power to burn down the casino? I kind of curious to see it collapsing.

And you call us crazy
But it's just business, baby,
And love, love's a Broadway show
And if you want my heart
I will play that part
